Our love story began in the heart of God, in primordial eros, before the foundation of this world. Since then, we've been stardust hurdling through time and space, relentlessly daring to meet each other in every love story—maybe you've heard of us before.
In the Summer of 2020, Dalmo said yes to God's invitation to drop everything and move back to Tulsa where he spent his teenage years.
In the Spring of 2023, Vivian said yes to God's invitation to move to Tulsa, the latest step of faith in a years-long ministry adventure.
In October, both Dalmo and Vivian went looking for love online. They struck up a conversation on a Friday and quickly made plans for a first date on Monday.
That Sunday before the date, Vivian decided to visit a new church. To her surprise, the pastor ended his sermon with a poem about awe and wonder... written by Dalmo! As it turns out, Vivian had gone to Dalmo's community, City Church!
On October 16th, Dalmo and Vivian met for their first date at Guthrie Green in downtown Tulsa, walked around the Arts District, bought a finger puppet at Magic City Books, talked about Taylor Swift and Ken Wilber at Reconciliation Park, got a tea at Gypsy Coffee House, dined at the Tavern, and ended the evening with the promise of a second date—the second of many, they had a feeling.
It had been a full year of intentional dating where both Dalmo and Vivian prayerfully and joyfully discerned a big decision: to join their lives as one in marriage.
In the wee hours of Christmas Eve, 2024 (Viv's birthday), Dalmo had a resurrection encounter with God. Overwhelmed by love, with no fear or doubt in view, it became clear that Dalmo wanted, more than anything in this world, to be married to his beloved, and that he was meant to officially ask her that very Saturday when she came back to Tulsa from her Christmas trip in Los Angeles.
Over the next three days, with lots of help from close friends and family, everything began to fall into place for the perfect proposal: a long overdue haircut, mom's heirloom ring, a handwritten letter in Korean hand-delivered to Mr. Kim in LA, lots of candles from the church's Christmas celebrations, the best photographer, dinner reservations at the Tavern, a heartfelt speech, and many happy tears.
Dalmo proposed to Vivian on December 28th, 2024, at Guthrie Green, where they first met. She said yes! They agreed to get married exactly 6 months later.
Now that you're all caught up, we hope you say yes to celebrating the next chapter of this never-ending love story at City Church Tulsa on June 28th, 2025!
